7th February 2020

Dear Parents/carers

Key dates

For dates of future events and term dates, please regularly check the school calendar on our e-schools app and on our website:  http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk

Office staff

Congratulations to Alison Brewin, who, after many years as a TA and MDSA, will be joining Sara Hammond in the school office soon.  This does mean that we will shortly be advertising for a TA to support KS2 with their learning.  If you are interested and would like to find out more about the role, please come and have a chat!

Open Afternoon

Please come and join us on Thursday for our next half-termly open afternoon.  You will have a chance to find out what the children have learned in school and at home this half term, as well as having the chance to look at their books.  Classrooms will be open for visits between 2:50 and 3:20.  You will be able to collect your children in the normal way at 3:30.

Parent Consultations

This term’s parent consultations will be held on 12th February and 2nd March 3:50 – 6:20.  Like last term, you can book your appointment (one per child) through the e-schools app or by logging in via our website.  As in October, consultations will be held in the school hall and are for parents to talk to the teachers about their child’s progress and next steps.  If you choose to bring your child with you, they need to remain with you – unfortunately we are not able to provide a crèche.  Booking will be open between 4th and 10th February.

PTA Valentines Disco – Friday 14th February

The PTA are organising a Valentines Disco next Friday in the school hall, 6-7pm. The entrance fee is £2 and there will be snacks available for the children to buy, as well as a chance to burn off energy by practising their dance moves. Parents are welcome to drop children off and collect an hour later, or you are welcome to stay and buy a cup of tea and a slice of Valentine’s cake!

PTA –Bag 2 School

Bags 2 School have been sent home this week, collection for them is 3rd March. Please fill as many bags as possible, if your neighbours would like some please collect more bags from the school office. It is an easy way to fundraise for the school.

PTA – Reading books to donate

We are looking for KS2 reading books for the book case in the school foyer! You can donate books, swap your books or buy 3 for £1.

Plant to Plate

Remember, tokens will be published daily in the East Anglian Daily Times (two on Saturday) and Ipswich Star – the first token appeared on Saturday 18th January 2020, final token on Friday 27th March 2020. Please bring your tokens into school by the end of March.  Thank you!  Mrs Brusell will restart gardening club for the children on Wednesday lunchtimes in the spring.
