Dear Parents/carers
We have had a fantastic day celebrating the work of Ronald Dahl, and taking part in different activities based on “The Twits” with our teams. Thank you to everyone for their efforts with beards; there were some revolting things stuck in them!
Lunch bookings
Please could we remind you to try to remember to book your child’s lunches at home in advance; it simplifies our morning routine and allows more time for learning. It also reduces food waste if the kitchen can order accurate quantities of ingredients. If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 their meals are paid for by the government, so are free to you. If your child is in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6, then meals cost £2.45.
Welcome Evening
Please join us on Tuesday 17th September at 6:30pm for our annual welcome evening. You will have the chance to find out about the school’s improvement priorities for the year ahead, meet the governors, tour the school and meet your child’s teacher, and ask any questions you might have.
Jeans for Genes Day
Jeans for Genes Day is the annual fundraising campaign for Genetic Disorders UK, the national charity that supports children affected by a genetic disorder. This year, it is on Friday 20th September, and we would like the children to participate by wearing jeans, and donating £1. If your child does not have/doesn’t wear jeans, they can still take part by wearing a different style of trouser. Uniform polo shirts and sweatshirts should be worn.
MacMillan Coffee Morning
This year, as this is such a good cause, we would like to hold a MacMillan Coffee morning for the Burrough Green community in school on Friday 27th September. In order to make this happen, I need a band of willing volunteers to help me run the event by making tea, coffee and squash and serving cakes. I also need parents to make/donate cakes and biscuits on the day. If you are able to help me run the event, please speak to me at the door before or after school or at the welcome meeting on Tuesday evening or email me at head@burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk . Without volunteers, we will not be able to run this event.
The Young’uns
We are very excited to be welcoming The Young’uns back to school this term. They will be visiting on September 26th to work with Class 3 as part of their local history “Glorious Gallops” project. They will be helping the class to write and record a song celebrating our area’s racing heritage, using information the class have gathered from their research including their visit to Dalham Stud. For more information about this award-winning folk trio, please visit www.theyounguns.co.uk
