Covid Update
We have been notified of two further confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the school. It is not possible for us to say with any certainty whether or not your child has been in contact with a positive case of Covid. Please note that whilst the three key symptoms are a continuous cough, raised temperature and change in taste/smell, additional signs that may be early warning signs in children include upset stomach, headache, runny nose, sore throat and unusual fatigue. If in doubt, and to limit spread at BGPS, please keep your child at home and book a PCR test. https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
Sadly, I am one of these cases of Covid (picked up from my own children, not from BGPS), so I am not able to be in school next week, but will be working from home. Ms McDowell will be leading in school.
We are monitoring the situation carefully and will work with the LA to identify any further measures we need to take in school. Thank you once again for your support.
Aylmerton Residential trip
‘It was joy taking the pupils to Aylmerton Outdoor Education Centre. We developed many skills through a range of team work and problem solving tasks as well as learning about the environment of the coast and woodland areas. The pupils were so kind and caring towards each other and showed great resilience throughout. They’re definitely in need of a good rest this weekend.’ Miss McDowell
I would like to thank Ms McDowell, Miss Chubb and Mrs Brewin for taking the children to Aylmerton, it sounds like they had a fantastic time! Photos have been added to our website, which links to twitter if you have not seen them.
Malala Class
We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Knox in helping to fill up Malala class raised bed with soil. The children will have great fun digging and playing with the mud kitchen. Can we please remind you to send your child in with Wellies and waterproof trousers so they can enjoy playing outside!
Upcoming Events
Please check our school website for information about future events, term dates, training days etc. http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk/website/calendar/386598
In the next two weeks….
Wednesday 17th November – Small Schools Cross Country Competition
A group of our runners will be travelling to Milton Country Park to take part in the cross country competition. Thank you to Mrs Brewin and the parent volunteers who have been organising running club on Monday lunchtimes, and keeping the tradition of running at Burrough Green going strong.
Friday 19th November – Children in Need
We will be collecting donations for Children in Need at the door in the morning, and it will be a non-uniform day. If they have something yellow or spotty or Children in Need themed, that would be great, but if not any other non-uniform would be fine! (Please make sure that their clothing and footwear is appropriate for the weather!)
Malala class and Einstein class will still have PE, but can come in non-uniform PE kit. Time to get creative with those spots!
Tuesday 23rd November – Flu Immunisations
An NHS team will visit the school to deliver the immunisations for all children whose parents have given consent.
Friday 26th November – Training Day
BGPS will be closed to pupils on Friday 26th November for a training day.
Reminder: Instrumental Tuition
Studies have shown that learning a musical instrument is incredibly beneficial to the confidence, emotional growth, mental well-being and behavioural development of children. We are fortunate to have three peripatetic instrumental teachers who visit school and have spaces to take on new pupils. If you have any questions, please contact us or you can contact them directly for more information:
Recorder, Saxophone, All brass, *Drum kit, Singing - Fallon Howe – fallonhowemusician@gmail.com

PTA News
Virtual Christmas Auction - following the popularity of last year's auction, we will be holding another one between Friday 26th November and Sunday 5th December. We have had some very generous lots donated already but would welcome a lot more for this festive event! They can be physical items or offers of promises such as time (for gardening or car washing etc). Please contact Fran on bgptachair@gmail.com if you are able to donate anything. Thank you!
Elfridges - the PTA are thrilled to announce that Elfridges will once again be open for business at the school on Friday 3rd December! This is a chance for the children to buy family (and pet!) Christmas presents in secret. Each present will cost £1 and come home pre- wrapped. The elves are looking forward to visiting!
