Newsletter 12.12.19

12th December 2019

Dear Parents/carers

Key dates

For dates of future events, please regularly check the school calendar on our e-schools app and on our website:  http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk

Christmas Jumper Day

We will be supporting Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day tomorrow – if children wish to wear a Christmas Jumper they should bring a £1 donation. They need to wear normal school uniform with their Christmas jumper.

Celebration Assembly

Tomorrow morning is the final celebration assembly of the term.  We will find out which team has won the merit competition and is the “Team of the Term”.  It is also your last opportunity to buy squares for the chance to win one of the amazing hampers before the draw at 3:20 at our open afternoon.

Christmas lunch

Tomorrow is also Christmas lunch in school (if you pre-ordered your child’s Christmas lunch by last Monday).   If you did not order a Christmas lunch, please remember to send your child with a packed lunch tomorrow – it is not possible to add extra children to the lunch order tomorrow as there will not be any spare food.

Open Afternoon

Please join us tomorrow for our open afternoon.  The doors will open at 2:45 (not before!) for a short singing performance in the hall at 2:50 by Class 3.  After that, you will be able to visit the classrooms.  At 3:20, in the hall, we will be drawing the squares to see who has won the hampers.  If you haven’t yet bought a square, your last opportunity will be at celebration assembly in the morning.  Mrs Leadbeter (who is joining us in Class 1 after Christmas) will be here for the open afternoon; I know you will all make her feel welcome.  It will be Mrs McPhee’s last day in Class 1 tomorrow, and I am sure you will join me in thanking her for all her hard work and enthusiasm this term.

Guess the weight of the cake

In the school office we have a very tasty-looking Christmas cake.  If you guess the weight of the cake, (at just £2 per guess) you could win it!  Please have a guess at celebration assembly or open afternoon tomorrow.

Carol Service

We would love to see you at our Carol service on the final afternoon of term, Wednesday 18th December at 2:00pm.  There will be a collection in aid of St Augustine’s Church.  You will be able to collect your children from school after the carol service.

Clubs

Clubs have now finished for this term.  If you would like your child to participate in Dan Penfold’s, Prestige Sports Development sport clubs on Mondays next term, please book online at: www.prestigesportsdevelopment.co.uk  or call 07881308250

KS1 Multisport is at lunchtimes, Year 2-6 Multisport is after school until 4:30.  The clubs give children a chance to experience different sports each week. Sports can include: Dodgeball, Archery, Tennis, Football, Hockey, Table Tennis, Tri Golf, Tag Games, Etc.
