Share a Story with Malala and Einstein Classes
The children had a lovely time on Tuesday afternoon sharing stories with parents. The weather was good to us, and it was fantastic to see everyone sitting outside in small groups reading for pleasure. Thank you to everyone who came to join us – we hope you enjoyed it too!
Upper School Humanities Bee
It was a very close competition on Wednesday afternoon between the parent team and the children, with the parents snatching a narrow victory in the final round! Well done to Knight Team, who were the winning house, and now holders of the Bee Trophy. The children showed aspiration and resilience, and it was great fun! We hope that parents (and governors) will join us for more “Bees” in the future. For photos, please visit our website and Twitter feed
Swimming
The lower school children have enjoyed cooling off in the pool this afternoon. Please note that children are welcome to wear a rash vest/long sleeved swimming top in the pool to protect them from the sun.
For details of the PTA after-school swimming times for next week, please see the PTA information at the end of this newsletter. Please remember that for children in Malala and Einstein Classes, parents must be poolside. For children in Teresa and Obama Classes, parents must be in the vicinity of the pool and easy to contact. If your child has an inhaler, please have it with you as medication in school will not be accessible. Entry to the pool will be from the gate near Einstein Class. Children will use the changing rooms in the swimming pool compound.
Upcoming Events
Make sure you check our school calendar to stay up-to-date with information about future events, term dates, training days etc. Important dates are added to the calendar long before being listed in the “in the next few weeks…” section below, so it is important to look at the calendar regularly to see what’s happening in the future.
In the next few weeks…
Sports Day
Next Thursday (23rd June) is Sports Day! The weather forecast looks promising at the moment, with temperatures predicted to be in the high teens on that morning, and no rain. If that changes and we are unable to go ahead next week, our back-up plan is to try again on the following Thursday. We will start our sporting fun as soon as the children are ready at the beginning of the day. All are welcome – we are looking forward to seeing you!

After School Swimming
We hope that children have enjoyed some extra time in the pool with afternoon swims - we are so grateful to the parent volunteers who make this possible.
Next week, after school swims are available on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
We have been looking at options to make access to after school swims fairer and allow mixed KS1 and 2 swims for siblings. With only 6 volunteers with appropriate training this has been tricky, but we are looking to trial an online booking system.
As of today therefore, you can pre-book your child / children's place for swimming next week on the link below!
https://www.peoplesfundraising.com/event/BG-swimming
Any places not allocated via online booking will be on a 'first come, first served basis' and payable with cash (£2 per session)
We are asking parents not to book their child more than twice a week but may need to restrict to once a week if demand is high. Sessions will be 30 mins mixed KS1 and 2 and bookings for the following week will be available every Friday.
Please let us know what you think so that we can judge how the system is working.
Thankyou
