Half-term break next week
I hope you are all able to have a rest and re-charge next week.  School will re-open on Monday 31st October.

Open Afternoon
Thank you for joining us at Open Afternoon, and sharing the children’s learning from this term.  Thank you, too, to the PTA for serving refreshments – it was good to get back to our pre-covid routine!

Flu Immunisation
We will soon be visiting your child’s school to offer the free flu vaccine to all eligible children from reception to year 6. The nasal flu vaccine is painless, quick, and side effects are uncommon and generally mild. All pupils in special needs schools are eligible for the influenza immunisation
This is NOT the Covid Vaccination.

This winter, now that life is back to normal, there is a very high risk that the NHS could be overwhelmed with illness caused by influenza, as we have not been mixing with others as much over the past few winters.
Children who have the flu vaccine are less likely to pass the virus on to friends and family, especially those who may be at greater risk from flu, such as young babies, elderly people or friends and relatives with a serious health condition.

You can now complete consent for your child online. Please click HERE to give consent, or to decline consent.

It is important to complete and return the form even if you do not want your child to have the vaccine. If you choose not to complete the consent, this does NOT mean that you have refused the vaccine for your son or daughter.

For parents who want their child to have the vaccine that does not contain porcine gelatine, you can also do this by using the consent link above. If you wish for your child to receive the injection, please say no to the nasal flu vaccine, you will then be taken to the page where you can consent for the injection instead.

Please see the attached letter for more information.

Reminder: Open Event for Reception pupils for September 2023
Is your child due to start school in Reception in September 2023?  (Born between 1 September 2018 and 31st August 2019)  Do you know anyone else who has a child due to start?
Our next open session for parents to come and visit us to find out more about BGPS and Malala Class is Wednesday 9th November between 2pm and 3pm.  Please call the school office on 01638 507236 to book a visit.

Reminder: Year 6 parents – secondary transition applications for 2023 are now open!
To make your application, you must log into the Citizen online portal.  Last year the majority of parents chose to make their applications for a school place online; this year there are no paper application forms.  You need to apply via your home local authority (where you pay your Council Tax) for transferring from Primary to Secondary school.
This is the link to Suffolk Admissions
Applications must be submitted by Monday 31st October.

PTA News

Nutty natter from the pta chair ….

Half term already (!) Thank you to everyone who helped make the autumn disco last Friday a huge success!! The children all had a great time moving and grooving together!

Great to see parents in school for project afternoon enjoying refreshments from the pta this week - we will be offering mince pies at the next project afternoon (Christmas not far away!)

The PTA have some fun dates to add to the calendar (all will be revealed over the next few weeks!) but we would appreciate any feedback or ideas for future events.

Amazon Smile - Please remember to use Amazon Smile and nominate 'Burrough Green PTA and Friends' as your chosen charity. For each purchase, the PTA receives a small percentage donation from Amazon at no extra cost to you. It's a really simple way to donate without even realising it!

Easyfundraising.org - Money for the PTA whilst doing your usual shopping. There are lots of retailers and service providers on the list, businesses you normally shop with anyway. Even if you log into your favourite retailer through the app half way through, it saves your basket, so you don’t have to do anything different. Try it, it really does make a difference https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk
