Children in Need
Thank you all for supporting Children In Need at school last week. We raised a total of £238.95 - £101.45 through non-uniform donations and £137.50 on the jumble sale. Thank you all for your generosity.
Miss Chubb has put together a suggested reading list for each year group (Y2-Y6) which can be found in the “Learning Zone” of our website.
Fundraising event – Christmas Shopping and Pamper Evening – Saturday 23rd November
Please join us tomorrow at the school for the shopping and pamper evening. Tickets are £3 on the door. Please see attached flyer to show all of the stall holders!
Non-uniform day in return for hamper prizes – Friday 29th November
Help to raise money for the PTA - bring a contribution to put in our Christmas hampers in exchange for not wearing uniform. This year, we would like to make this a team event, there will a prize for the best team. We would like to create hampers with colour themes. So, we would like your contributions to match your child’s team colour: children in red team bring red items (or in red packaging), children in blue team bring blue items, and so on. I wonder how imaginative you can be with your coloured donations! The hampers will be raffled in the last week of term.

Christmas Jumper Swap Shop - Friday 29th November
Fed up of forking out for Christmas jumpers to wear once a year and paying more for the privilege of wearing them? Or are you looking to recycle more and waste less this Christmas? Then the PTA Christmas Jumper Swap Shop is for you! Bring in Christmassy jumpers that your family have outgrown or got tired of and find a new one at the Swap Shop which will be held at Fun Friday on 29th November (and at school gate on Wednesday the week after if we have enough left) - plenty of time to get kitted up for Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day on 13th December. A fresh jumper will be £4, or £3 if you donate one for us to sell. Please drop off donations in advance - collection starts on Monday and there will be a list to record that you've donated and are due a discount. Adult, preschool and big kid jumpers all welcome, as are other Christmassy clothes!
“Elfridges” Christmas Sale – 6th December
The Christmas elves have been very busy preparing for an Elfridges Christmas Present Sale at school on Friday 6th December! This is a chance for children to buy presents for their parents without losing any of the surprise! Children will have a chance to wrap their presents too, if they wish. Each gift will cost £1 with a maximum of two gifts per child. Please send your child into school with money on the day. (Please note, there will be no celebration assembly on this day, as the elves will be busy setting out their wares!)
Christmas Jumper Day / Christmas lunch - Friday 13th December
We will be supporting Christmas Jumper day on Friday 13th December – if children wish to wear a Christmas Jumper they should bring a £1 donation. We will also have our school Christmas lunch on the same day. Please pre-order on the school grid app - https://app.schoolgrid.co.uk/
Thank you for your assistance and participation with the breakfast club survey. In the main, the feedback was very positive and we feel it will be of great benefit to the school to have this facility, so the Governors in partnership with the school will look to try and implement this. In the long term the plan will be to have an after school club as well, dependent on commitment/attendance/cost-effectiveness of the Breakfast, but one step at a time!
You will of course appreciate that for this club to run then there are some hurdles to be overcome. We need to ensure that the location of the club is suitable - we have identified a potential room within the school but we need to make sure it reaches the standards expected of a facility like this. We will need to recruit the right staff to manage it and therefore it will need to generate enough income to support two members of staff to ensure the staff/pupil ratios are correct. It will also have to be inspected by OFSTED, and will be subject to all of their rules and regulations. We are confident that we can get there, but this will take some time so we would appreciate your patience. As things stand right now, then we are aiming to pilot the breakfast club in the first half of the summer term.
Thank you all for your support with this initiative. One of the things we need to ensure is the future of our school, and therefore being able to offer breakfast clubs and in the future after school clubs, will only enhance the already amazing provision that this village school offers. The Community Governors.
Following the success of the breakfast club survey, and as we continue to strive to make our school even better, we would be very grateful for some more feedback from parents. Applying for Reception Placements September 2020
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 and you currently live in Cambridgeshire you will need to apply for a primary school place - reception, for September 2020.
You must submit your application online before the deadline of 15 January 2020 and you will receive your offer on 16 April 2020.
If you are a Cambridgeshire resident you will make your application through the Cambridgeshire Admissions Team https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/children-and-families/schools-&-learning/apply-for-a-school-place/

Mondays: Dan Penfold, Prestige Sports Development: KS1 Multisport at lunchtimes - £2.40 a session (£19.20 for the half term), Year 2-6 Multisports afterschool - £3.60 a session (£28.80 for the half term)
