Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for the harvest!

Thank you for your generous donations for Jimmy’s Cambridge as part of our Harvest Worship yesterday; it has helped us to re-inforce our value of kindness.  It was also lovely to see so many of you join us in the church to give thanks.  We were incredibly proud of our youngest children in Malala Class for their aspiration and resilience in learning and then singing the story of The Little Red Hen in front of so many people!  The children all behaved impeccably during the visit to the church.  It is always a pleasure to take our pupils out and about – we always receive compliments about how polite and well-behaved they are!

School Adviser visit

We received a visit from our new Local Authority school adviser this week.  I felt very proud showing her around our school.  She complimented our calm and positive learning environment; the way the adults were working with children inside class; the respectful relationships demonstrated between staff and children; and the positive behaviours for learning that the children demonstrated.  It was great to see the children chatting enthusiastically to her about their learning and particularly about how much they enjoy maths!

Open Event for Reception pupils for September 2023

Is your child due to start school in Reception in September 2023?  (Born between 1 September 2018 and 31st August 2019)  Do you know anyone else who has a child due to start?

We have two open sessions for parents to come and visit us to find out more about BGPS and Malala Class.  These are: Monday 10th October between 2pm and 3pm and Wednesday 9th November between 2pm and 3pm.  Please call the school office on 01638 507236 to book a visit.

Year 6 parents – secondary transition applications for 2023 are now open!

To make your application, you must log into the Citizen online portal.  Last year the majority of parents chose to make their applications for a school place online; this year there are no paper application forms.  You need to apply via your home local authority (where you pay your Council Tax) for transferring from Primary to Secondary school.

Reminder: BGPS needs you! (Volunteering at BGPS)

Do you have any time during the school day which you could spend with us to read with children; support small groups with activities; or help with lunchtime or after-school clubs?  We are very keen to have parent volunteers in school this year.  If you are able to give the children some of your time, please contact Sara Hammond office@burroughreen.cambs.sch.uk with your email address, full name and date of birth so that we can start the DBS checking process.  If you have any questions, just ask!  (Reminder: We have booked next year’s resus training session for Tuesday 7th March 2pm.  Please come!  If you are able to, please let the office know.)
