Newsletter 25.06.2021

25th June 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please see the calendar on our website for up-to-date event information
Science Week
The children have had a fantastic week this week exploring and learning in science.  Today, Learn by Design ( ) have immersed the children in a variety of workshops from “Stars and Space” to “Robot Programming”.  Please visit our website or twitter feed to see what they have been up to this week!
Sports Morning
Please remember to send your children to school in PE kit on Tuesday for our sports morning.  Because we know that yellow T-shirts attract insects, if your children are in yellow team, they might prefer to wear a white T-shirt instead!  Unfortunately, like all of the other schools in our cluster, we are not able to manage spectators this year.
Please remember that if your child has COVID symptoms (cough, temperature above normal or altered sense of taste and smell) your household must isolate and you must take them for a PCR test at a test centre.  LFTs should not be used with children.  If children display COVID symptoms at school, we will isolate them, and contact you to collect them and their siblings.
Class 4 Trip to the Archives in Ely
If your child is in Class 4, please remember to send them with a packed lunch and drink on Monday.

PTA News
Sponsored Walk
Yet again you have stunned us with your generosity for this event. Alongside the fantastic achievement of the children, the total raised is £2117.50! This enables the PTA to approach the new academic year on such a positive note, with funding to directly benefit the children in school. We are so grateful.  Thank you
Virtual Eco Balloon Race (launch date 17th July)
Since ongoing restrictions make an end of year raffle tricky this year, we thought it might be fun to offer this as an alternative!
The idea is simple - you visit the balloon racing website and purchase a 'virtual' balloon for £3 in support of the PTA (link below). Your virtual balloon is then set to launch in the 'Schools Out' race from Manaus in Brazil!
From your balloon dashboard you can watch the progress of the race over 7 days from 17th July - the balloon journeys are calculated using real time weather and wind speeds.  You and your family can personalise your balloons to try and get that special edge in the race!
The website offers prizes to the overall lead balloons including £500 cash, an iPad and book tokens, but the PTA are also offering cash prizes to the 6 balloons that travel the furthest in our individual race! Happy ballooning!!
Amazon Smile and Easyfundraising
These provide a great boost to PTA funds and thank you to everyone who has signed up already.
If you have not previously been aware of this option, you can visit the links below and allocate 'Burrough Green PTA and Friends' as your chosen charity. Any future online purchases made via the retailers on these sites provides a donation to us at no extra cost to you.
