Dear Parents and Carers

We have reached the end of this unseasonably wet and cold half term, and the children are ready for their break next week (and some better weather)! We return on Monday June 7th. I hope you all have an enjoyable and restful week.

Wraparound Care at BGPSWe can’t offer any wraparound provision at BGPS unless there is enough demand to make it financially viable, so if you have not yet completed the Cambridge Kids Club survey, please do so as soon as  possible. https://us13.listmanage.com/surveyu=fdf2369295c8451ebddf4a284&id=424cb0de9e&e=*|UNIQID|*

Reminder: INSET day on Monday 21st JuneDon’t forget that we have our final training day of the academic year on June 21st, so the school will be closed to all pupils on that day. The teachers are excited about the “Talk for Writing” training that they will be doing!

Funding initiativeWe’re pleased to announce that Burrough Green Cof E Primary School is part the My School Fund initiative, is associated with Sainsburys, Argos and Espo. This innovative scheme allows for us to be able to boost our school’s budget with your help.

How does it work?
Parents, guardians and carers can sign up to the scheme for free and start earning cashback on the things they buy in participating retail stores, including Sainsbury’s and Argos. As you spend you’ll receive 2% cashback in the form of eGift vouchers that can be redeemed in participating stores. By linking your spend to our school on the My School Fund website we’ll also earn 1% cashback on your spend.  Add that all up across our school’s network of families and together we can all make a big difference!

How to get involved
Visit myschoolfund.org to register for free and link to Burrough Green Cof E Primary School. From there, everything you spend in participating stores will go towards helping boost our budget, plus your own! Sign up today at myschoolfund.org Please see attached flyer.

Reminder: Free School Meals
If your financial circumstances have been affected by the COVID 19 crisis your child could now be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM). Currently, the Local Authority are also providing supermarket vouchers during school holidays. You may not be aware that there is a difference between Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) and Benefit Related Free School Meals (FSM). All children in YR, 1 and 2 automatically receive UIFSM, but your child may also be eligible for Benefit-Related Free School Meals. If your child is in Y3, 4, 5 or 6 it is estimated that you could save around £450 per year in lunch costs.
There are also wider on-going benefits to your child throughout their primary school education if you register for Benefit-Related FSM. When you receive FSM, you will also allow BGPS to receive a Pupil Premium Grant, which is extra money that we can use in a variety of ways to support children from families on lower incomes. So, even if your child is currently in receipt of UIFSM (Reception, Year 1 or Year 2), we recommend that you apply for FSM if you are eligible. It is very quick and easy - just fill out the simple online application form here If you would like any help or advice, please contact the school office. FSM Eligibility Criteria:• Income Support• Income-based Jobseekers Allowance• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999• The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit• Child Tax Credit (unless you’re also entitled to Working Tax Credit, and earn no more than£16,190)• Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop receiving Working Tax Credit)• Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400)If you have any queries regarding this information, please call the Education Welfare Benefits teamon 01223 703200 or email ewb.fsm@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
