Joining us at Burrough Green
EYFS at Burrough Green
If you have a child starting school in September 2022, we would love to show you around our school. Please contact office@burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk or ring 01638 507236 to arrange a visit.
We have welcoming, dedicated staff at Burrough Green who are committed to providing the best possible learning environment to allow every child to flourish and grow. We work closely with our families to develop strong relationships as it is our belief that in order for children to learn they need to be happy and feel safe. We use an online learning tool that allows us to communicate freely with our families, allowing them to feel fully involved in the development of their child.
Throughout the year we work towards the Early Learning Goals, with a strong emphasis on learning through exploration and play. Our classroom and outside area is well-resourced giving children challenge as well as the opportunity to practice and develop key skills in a way that is appropriate for where each individual is in their learning journey.
Depending on numbers, we have a mixture of reception and year 1 in the class. This enriches the experiences for both year groups – the reception children have role models to learn alongside and the Y1s develop confidence as they become experts.
Our Y5 children are "buddies" to our EYFS children - we are a family at BGPS, where our Christian ethos and values are lived through all aspects of school life.
Please come and visit!
The majority of our new children attend Burrough Green playgroup, which is held in the renovated listed building, adjacent to the Reception classroom.Playgroup children are also invited to have school lunches and stay for some afternoons in the term before they start school. This strengthens the school-playgroup link and has the clear advantage of smoothing the transition into school life as the children are already familiar with the building and the staff.
Children due to start school are invited into Class 1 for short periods during the second half of the summer term. Also at this time, parents will be invited to attend an open evening to explain how the Reception Class operates, and to answer questions.
