Y5 Maths Challenge
Our team of four Y5 pupils showed great aspiration and resilience when they took part in the Cambridgeshire Y5 Maths Challenge on Monday morning.  They had to work together under time pressures to solve maths puzzles and multi-step problems, competing against teams from other primary schools around Cambridgeshire.  We were really proud of their enthusiasm and their maths skills.  They placed third in their heat, which was a great achievement.  Well done Y5 mathematicians – we are very proud of you!

A-Team Netball Shield Finals
Also showing aspiration and resilience, along with fantastic sportsmanship, were our Netball A-Team who played fantastically in the A-Team Netball Shield Finals on Thursday afternoon. They rotated positions after each half with confidence and demonstrated resilience and wonderful teamwork. After their first round of matches, they were pooled to the highest group in the league and came in 5th place overall, out of 16 schools from across the South Cambs School Sports Partnership. We are very proud of them.  For a full report, see http://www.scssp.co.uk/bee-netball-finals-go-down-to-goal-difference/

SCSSP Dance Competition
We are also hugely proud of our dance club, who entered the South Cambs School Sports Partnership’s Celebration Dance Competition with the dance that they performed for parents on our Open Afternoon before Easter.  Their aspirational performance, along with all of their hard work and hours of practice, resulted in them winning the competition!  They have won a dance workshop with professional street/hip hop dancer Junior Russell, and have been invited to perform at an SCSSP event later this term.  Well done, dancers!  For a full report, see http://www.scssp.co.uk/a-dance-celebration/

Einstein Class Visit to the Sedgewick Museum
Einstein Class had a great time at the Sedgewick Museum this morning.  They enjoyed hunting through the exhibits for different types of rocks and were able to handle a wide variety, finding out more about how they were formed.  To see some photographs of the visit, please go to our website: http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk/website/einstein_class_sedgwick_museum_visit/606194

Reminder- Beginning and end of the school day
It has been disappointing this week to still watch some children’s behaviour at the front of the school at the beginning and end of the school day.  The front of the school site is not a playground and children should not be running through the flowerbeds or climbing on the boulders that are in those flowerbeds.  This is killing the plants, and climbing on the boulders is dangerous.  The door into school is open between 8:45am and 8:55am and you should aim to arrive on site between these times so that your children can walk straight into school, safe and calm and ready to learn.  Thank you for your support with this; it is important that the children are safe and are encouraged to have respect for school property.

Workshops for Parents and Carers
The Early Help Team at CCC are running some online workshops for parents throughout the summer term.  These will cover a number of topics to help you to support your child with anxiety, resilience, anger and aggression, and transitioning to a new school.  Details for each of these workshops can be found on our community noticeboard:

PTA News

Fundraising without having to give a penny.....!
In March we received a £14.72 pay-out to the PTA and it didn’t cost you a penny! This was from the Easyfundraising.org.uk - money for the PTA whilst doing your usual shopping. There are lots of retailers and service providers on the list, businesses you normally shop with anyway. Even if you log into your favourite retailer through the app half way through, it saves your basket, so you don’t have to do anything different. Try it, it really does make a difference https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk

Amazon Smile - Please remember to use Amazon Smile and nominate 'Burrough Green PTA and Friends' as your chosen charity. For each purchase, the PTA receives a small percentage donation from Amazon at no extra cost to you. It's a really simple way to donate without even realising it!
