Newmarket Pony Academy
Our second group of Y6 pupils have spent the whole of this week at the Newmarket Pony Academy. We are very grateful to the NPA for giving our pupils this opportunity to learn about horses and ponies and have the chance to ride, which not all children are lucky enough to experience. I know the group have been resilient and kind; it has been good for their mental health and well-being; and they have had a fantastic time! We hope to be able to offer this experience to future groups, too.
Swimming
The decking is complete, the pool is full, and we are ready to swim! I want to say a huge “thank you” to the PTA members who re-painted the changing sheds, and cleared the area around the pool last weekend along with the (now fully trained) pool carers. BG children are very lucky to have volunteers like you who are committed to helping us to make the pool a possibility for them.
Swimming sessions for next half term will be:
Monday: Obama and Teresa
Tuesday: Einstein and Malala
Wednesday: Obama and Teresa
Friday: Einstein and Malala
Please ensure that your child has a clean and dry swimming kit containing: towel, costume and flip-flops, (goggles and swimming hat are optional) in school on the days that they are due to swim.
We will commence lessons on Wednesday 8th June.
Upcoming Events
Please check our school website for information about future events, term dates, training days etc. There is at least one event for parents each week for the rest of the summer term. http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk/website/calendar/386598

Swimming Pool
We are thrilled that work on refurbishing the pool area is now complete! The pool is full, the decking laid and the shed and fencing repainted. The PTA is enormously grateful to parents and staff who have helped to fundraise, picked up a paintbrush or overseen project management! In celebration of this, the school plan to have the refurbished pool open for viewing from 3.20pm - 4pm, following the Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Monday 6th June. Please do stop by and see what you have helped to achieve!
PTA Committee stepping down
At the next AGM, the PTA committee will be stepping aside after 3 years of service. The PTA requires a full committee to continue operating and as such, we would welcome any interest for prospective Chair, Treasurer and Secretary roles.
If it is not possible to form a full committee, under the rules of the Charity Commission and the PTA Constitution, the PTA would have to disband.
Clearly, this would be a detrimental occurrence for many reasons, and the current committee are keen to facilitate a smooth handover if at all possible.
Please contact Fran (Chair) on bgptachair@gmail.com for any specific information.
Thankyou
