Resuscitation Training for 2023 – March 7th 2023 2pm
We are very grateful to the small group of parents who did resuscitation training this year. Without them we would not be able to deliver swimming teaching in school, and the PTA would not be able to offer fun sessions after school – I know how much the children look forward to those.
Without parent volunteers, there would be no after-school fun sessions, and we would struggle to deliver two lessons each week during the school day for all classes. It would be fantastic if, next summer, we had even more resuscitation-trained parents, so that the PTA could offer more fun sessions, and we could continue to provide two lessons each week to everyone.
We have booked next year’s resus training session for Tuesday 7th March 2pm. Please come!
If you are able to come, please let the office know email@example.com
You will have received your child's annual written report by email this afternoon. If there is something in the report that you would like to discuss with your child's class teacher, you will be able to make an appointment to meet them virtually on either the afternoon of Wednesday 6th July or the afternoon of Thursday 14th July. Booking for these appointments will open at 5pm today, and close at 8am on Monday 4th July. As this is such a busy time of year in school, we are unable to offer appointments outside of the advertised times, so please make sure to book as soon as possible if you would like to discuss your child's report.
Make sure you check our school calendar to stay up-to-date with information about future events, term dates, training days etc. Important dates are added to the calendar long before being listed in the “in the next few weeks…” section below, so it is important to look at the calendar regularly to see what’s happening in the future.
Maths Café for parents of Y2, 3 and 4 - Tuesday 5th July
Sadly, there has not been enough interest to run the maths café next week, so we have decided to postpone this until the Autumn Term.
Move-Along Morning – Thursday 7th July
Next Thursday is move-along morning, and the children will spend the morning with their new class and teacher. We are very pleased to have appointed two new teachers to BGPS for September. Mrs Fiona Moxom will be sharing Teresa Class (Year 4 and 5) with Mrs Angela Harris. Mrs Harris has been seconded to work with the Cambridge Maths Hub next year, using her expertise to support other primary school teachers to improve maths teaching in the local area. We are very lucky to be keeping her at BGPS for three days each week, and we are very excited to be welcoming Mrs Moxom to teach in Teresa Class. As you know, Miss Chubb is going to have her hands full at home with a new baby in September, and we are delighted to have appointed Miss Gemma Free to teach in Einstein Class. Einstein Class met Miss Free earlier this week, and really enjoyed her lesson. Both Miss Free and Mrs Moxom will be with us for move-along morning on Thursday.
The class structure for next year is:
Malala Class – Year R and Year 1 with Mrs Alice Leadbeter
Einstein Class – Year 2 and Year 3 with Miss Gemma Free
Teresa Class – Year 4 and Year 5 with Mrs Fiona Moxom (Monday - Tuesday) and Mrs Angela Harris (Wednesday – Friday)
Obama Class – Year 6 with Ms Laurie-Lee McDowell

After school swimming
We continue to hear such positive comments from the children about the after school swims - thank you for your continued support.
Next week, swims will be held on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July. Tickets will be available to book online from 3pm today (Friday) until 12pm on the day of the swims.
As always, if you fancy just turning up on the day (according to availability), you can bring £2 cash to cover either the 3:30 or 4pm session.
Last few weeks of PTA Committee
The current PTA Committee will be stepping down at the AGM meeting in September/ October (date to follow soon). At this stage, there have been no indications of interest from anyone regarding any of the roles. None of the current committee members are in a position to stand again and we will therefore look to disband the PTA at the AGM if no successors become apparent.
As always, we would welcome any questions regarding committee roles or work on firstname.lastname@example.org
