Dear Parents and Carers

For details of future events, please visit our website to view our calendar and community noticeboard for local events and October half term activities.

Class 1 Children – warm clothing and waterproof trousers, please!

The children in Class 1, particularly the reception children who have recently joined us, spend a lot of their time outside in their outdoor area learning through play.  It is a hugely important part of their learning.  As the weather is becoming more inclement, it is particularly important that they are dressed appropriately for all weathers, every day.  Please make sure your child has warm clothing – we are finding that some of the girls have cold legs; trousers are warmer and much more practical than a skirt and socks.  It is also a very good idea for Class 1 children to have waterproof trousers and wellies in school.  They are outside in all weathers (except heavy rain) and waterproof trousers will stop them from getting cold and damp.  Thank you for your support with this.

Parking – Friday 9th October

Next Friday, there will be a delivery of bark to the school car park, which the PTA will use on Saturday (10th) to replenish the surface around the play equipment at the back of the school.  This means that there will be more cars parked outside school than usual.  If you can drop-off/collect your children without using your car on Friday 9th October to ease congestion, we would be very grateful.  Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to spread the bark.

Food intolerances/Allergies

If your child has a food intolerance or allergy, please make sure that you have added this information to School Grid.  Once you have done this, you won’t be able to order a meal that your child cannot eat safely.  If you need any support with this, please contact Sara or Alison in the office.

Reminder - Assessment information meeting for parents of Y6 children – questions in advance, please!

Ms McDowell will be holding a virtual meeting for parents of the children in Y6 to explain the assessment process for the end of Y6 and talk about ways in which you can support your child at home this year.  The meeting will be at 6:30pm on Tuesday 6th October.  A link will be sent out to Y6 parents prior to the meeting.  If you have any specific questions about the process this year, please could you email or so that we can make sure that we build the answers into the presentation.

Reminder - Data Collection Forms and Photographic Permission Form

Please check, amend and return your child’s data collection form to the school office. Please return even if there are no changes.

PTA News

Amazon Smile

You can provide extra support to the school PTA by nominating BG PTA and Friends for support on Amazon Smile. It provides the same format and availability as a 'normal' Amazon experience but donates 0.5% of your net shopping bill to the PTA. This is a really valuable source of income for us, so please consider signing up at

We have arranged another collection date on Tuesday 17th November, so please keep your unwanted clothes etc to one side. Through everyone's generosity, we were able to raise over £200 from the last collection so thank you! Donations will again be accepted in your own bags
