3rd September 2021
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back! I hope you had an enjoyable and restful break. It has been very exciting to see the children learning, playing and eating together again now that the “bubbles” have gone; being a whole school once more. Welcome, too, to the newest members of our BGPS community – the families who have just joined us. We look forward to getting to know you.
We are hoping that we will be able to continue to operate without the restrictions of the past year. We will carefully monitor the prevalence of cases in our community, and work with the Local Authority and Public Health to identify any measures that need to be reinstated should there be an outbreak at BGPS. To minimise the risk of this, it is important that you keep your child at home and take them for a PCR test if they have symptoms. If a child develops symptoms at school, we will contact you to collect them. If their PCR is positive, please let us know as soon as possible by ringing the office on 01638 507236 or emailing email@example.com NHS Test and Trace will carry out contact tracing for positive cases. Attached to this letter is a flow chart explaining everything you need to know!
Reminder: Class Names
After learning about some Nobel Prize winners last term, the children chose new names for their classes for this year. They are now called:
- Class 1 - Malala Class https://malala.org/malalas-story
- Class 2 - Einstein Class https://www.biography.com/scientist/albert-einstein
- Class 3 - Teresa Class https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/50075153
- Class 4 - Obama Class https://www.biography.com/us-president/barack-obama
We are trying hard to remember to use the new names in school, so please help us by using the new names at home too!
Reminder: PE days
- Malala and Einstein Classes – Tuesday and Friday
- Teresa and Obama Classes – Monday and Wednesday
Please send children to school in their school PE uniform on their PE days:
- School PE T-shirt in their team colour (can be ordered through the school office)
- Black shorts or black tracksuit/leggings/skins
- School sweatshirt
(Please remember that football strips or brightly coloured leggings are not part of the school PE kit.)
Please check our school website for information about future events, term dates, training days etc. http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk/website/calendar/386598
In the next two weeks….
Thursday 9th September - Bikeability
If your child is in Y3 or Y4 and you have previously signed them up for Bikeability, don’t forget to check that their bike is in good working order! They will need their bike and helmet next Thursday. The playground gate will be opened for them to put their bikes in the bike shed when they arrive on Thursday morning, and for them to be collected at 3:30pm. The gate will be padlocked during the day, but we cannot guarantee the safety of any bicycles left in the shed. You may wish to provide a bike-lock (but make sure your child can open it!)
Monday 13th September – Roald Dahl Day
The children will be taking part in some Roald Dahl themed activities in school.
Thursday 16th September - Jeans for Genes
The children can wear jeans (or another type of non-uniform trouser if they don’t like jeans) on Thursday 18th September, and bring a £1 donation to support this worthwhile cause. More information about Jeans for Genes can be found here.
