4th February 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

To see what’s been happening at BGPS, please go to our website and Twitter feed:

Teresa and Obama’s Trip to Hunstanton

The Y4, 5 and 6 children had a fantastic time at the Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton on Tuesday.  If you haven’t had a look at the photos yet, please take a look at our Twitter feed on the homepage of our website.  I think the children wanted to take all the animals home with them!  I am sure you will join me in thanking Miss Chubb and Ms McDowell for organising the visit.

Einstein Class Update

Unfortunately Mrs Harris is still unwell, and not able to be in school.  We all miss her, and hope she is better soon.  The children (and Mrs Brown, Mrs Brusell and Mrs Pizey) have all been aspirational, resilient and kind, and I am very proud of how hard they are working at the moment.  It has also given me the chance to spend more time in the classroom with them, which I am enjoying!

Covid Update

We do have several children off school with Covid at the moment.  Since my last update on Tuesday, we have had 1 more case in Teresa Class.  If there has been a case in your child’s class, please carry on LFD testing each morning for 7 full days to help to identify asymptomatic cases.

We are now minimising mixing between classes, and ensuring good ventilation and frequent hand sanitising to try and limit the spread in school, but we know that the Omicron variant is incredibly infectious, so please continue to be vigilant.  If your child has a temperature, a cough or a change to sense of taste or smell, you should still get a PCR test for them.  If you want any help or advice, please give us a call and we will do our best to help!

Upcoming Events

Please check our school website for information about future events, term dates, training days etc.

In the next two weeks…

Wednesday 9th February – Open Afternoon

I am afraid that we are unable to invite parents into school for our Open Afternoon due to our current Covid situation.  We are very much looking forward to seeing the children’s projects on Wednesday, and we will post photos on the website and Twitter.

Thursday 10th and Wednesday 23rd February – Virtual Parent Consultations

If you haven’t yet booked your appointment, please log into e-schools to do so.  If you need any help, please contact the office.  The teachers will send out google meet links next week via Tapestry or Class Dojo.

PTA News

Pre - Valentine Disco

Unfortunately the decision has been taken to postpone this event due to sickness in school and amongst helpers. We are aware how disappointing this is for the children but hope to reschedule the event for nearer Easter.  A big thankyou to everyone who offered assistance for the disco and we will look to set another date soon.

Collection organised for Tuesday 8th March. We would be grateful for donations of any second hand clothing & accessories, shoes, bed linen, soft furnishings and soft toys in bin bags. Donations can be dropped off outside school from the morning of Monday 7th March until 9am on 8th March. No duvets, pillows or branded clothing / uniform please
