Visit from Lucy Frazer MP
This morning we enjoyed a visit from Lucy Frazer, the MP for South East Cambridgeshire. She toured the school with some of our Y6 children, talked to the whole school about her role as an MP, and answered some interesting questions from the children. Please see our Twitter for pictures.
“Save Our Swimming Pool” Update
We are currently awaiting the imminent delivery and instalment of our new pool liner. Thank you for your generous donations, which have contributed towards the cost of the new liner. We are also very grateful to the small number of volunteers who attended resuscitation training and have undertaken the pool carers training so that we can use the pool once the new liner is in place. As long as the fitting and filling go smoothly, we will be using the pool after half term, from Tuesday 7th June – so make sure your child has a swimming costume that fits! We will send out more information about our swimming timetable towards the end of this half term.
Warm Weather
We have had some glorious weather this week – and the children have been enjoying the sunshine at playtimes. During warm weather, please remember to send your child with a named sunhat/baseball cap to protect them. Please also remember to apply a long-lasting sun-block before leaving for school in the morning; we can’t apply sun-block at school, so please do not send any with your child.
PE kit
On PE days, your child should be wearing black leggings/shorts, a school PE T-shirt in the colour of their house team, and their school sweatshirt/cardigan. Football kits and bright coloured shorts/leggings should not be worn. If your child has pierced ears, their earrings must be removed for safety reasons; if they can’t take them out themselves, please make sure you take them out in the morning before coming to school. Also for safety, if your child has hair that is long enough to be tied back, please make sure they do so on PE days, or have a hair band with them.
Names in Uniform
Once again we are finding it difficult to re-unite lost sweatshirts and cardigans with their owners because many of them are un-named. Please check this weekend that all of your child’s uniform items are named – written names fade with washing, so may need re-writing, and sticky labels fall off, so it is worth checking regularly that their name is still there and legible. Woven, sew-in labels are inexpensive and reliable!
Healthy Snacks and Lunchboxes, please!
Please remember that it is important for your child to have healthy food at school. Please do not send chocolate or sweets as snacks or in lunchboxes. Fruit and vegetables should form the majority of their snacks and lunches. As we have children who are severely allergic to nuts, please leave foods containing nuts at home. Ideas for healthy lunchboxes can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes/
Thank you for your support with this.
Reminder: Workshops for Parents and Carers
The Early Help Team at CCC are running some online workshops for parents throughout the summer term. These will cover a number of topics to help you to support your child with anxiety, resilience, anger and aggression, and transitioning to a new school. Details for each of these workshops can be found on our community noticeboard:

We would welcome any interest for prospective Chair, Treasurer and Secretary roles - please forward the attached poster to anyone who may be interested and contact Fran (Chair) on bgptachair@gmail.com for any specific information. Thankyou
Amazon Smile - Please remember to use Amazon Smile and nominate 'Burrough Green PTA and Friends' as your chosen charity. For each purchase, the PTA receives a small percentage donation from Amazon at no extra cost to you. It's a really simple way to donate without even realising it!
