Newsletter 07.01.2022
7th January 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
Happy New Year! It is great to see all the children back in school embarking enthusiastically on their new learning projects. In Obama and Teresa Classes they have a biology focus this half term with “Darwin’s Delights” and “Blue Abyss”; Einstein Class have a history focus learning about “Magnificent Monarchs”; and Malala Class are learning more about the world with their “Bright Lights, Big City” project. Some home learning projects last half term were amazing; showing aspiration by aiming high and producing very high quality work – so we are really looking forward to seeing what you do together at home this half term. Our Open Afternoon is planned for Wednesday 9th February (all projects need to be back in school for this date).
Bottle Tops
Please could you help us by sending in your clean, washed plastic milk bottle tops, squash, juice and toothpaste tops for Teresa Class’s next project? Thank you!
Outdoor Historical Timeline
We are in the process of designing an exciting outdoor historical timeline for our school playground which every class will be able to use. We really want YOU to get involved... Wouldn't it be exciting to see your own fact on the timeline?
We are allowed up to 10 inclusions on our timeline. These will be historical facts which are personal to our school. For example, they could be dates linked to our school or the history of local notable places (e.g. local castles, canals, bridges, buildings etc.), local famous people, or local famous events.
We would love you to send us your researched ideas via class dojo or on paper to your teacher by Monday morning. You can enter as many ideas as you would like, however please make sure that they are all factually accurate!
Covid Update
Currently we have 2 cases of Covid in pupils following the Christmas break – neither of them have been in school this week. We know that community rates are very high, so please continue to be vigilant and take your child for a PCR test if they are ill with Covid symptoms.
The testing recommendations for people without symptoms have recently changed. Asymptomatic contacts of positive cases should carry out daily LFD tests for 7 days. From Tuesday 11th January, if an LFD test for someone without symptoms is positive, then a confirmatory PCR is no longer needed. (People with symptoms still need a PCR test.) LFD testing can also now be used from day 6 and 7 to allow shorter isolation periods. Please see the full guidance here. Please note that LFD tests are now recommended for use with anyone aged 5 and above.
Attached to this newsletter is a letter from the Local Authority with further information.
PE days
PE days have not changed, they remain the same as last term.
Special Winter Olympics themed meal on Thursday 20th January
Schools are reimbursed annually by the government for the cost of providing free school meals for children in YR, Y1 and Y2. The money that we get back from the DfE to provide these meals is calculated from the number of YR, 1 and 2 children who have a school meal next Thursday (January 20th). It would be really helpful for the school’s finances if all children in YR, Y1 and Y2 could order a school meal on Thursday (it won’t cost you any money). Parents of children in KS2 (Y3, 4, 5 and 6) will be charged as normal. Thank you for your support with this.
There will also be one lunch tray with a lucky sticker – whoever gets this will wine a £5 Amazon voucher!
The menu for Thursday 20th January is:
Chicken Burger With BBQ Sauce & Salad
Vegetarian Lasagne With Garlic Bread
Crusty French Baguette (choice of fillings)
Master Fresh Jacket Potato (Choice of Fillings)
Olympic Ring Doughnut
Fresh Fruit Organic
Dairy Yoghurt
