Malala and Einstein’s Nativity Performance
We are all very proud of the children (and adults) in Einstein and Malala Class for their Nativity performances this week. A couple of weeks ago, we were not sure if our Covid cases would prevent us from going ahead, but our case rate fell, and the children pulled together to learn songs and words to bring you their version of the Christmas story. I do hope that those of you who came to see it enjoyed their performance. Please take a look at Mrs Brewin’s photographs here
PTA Christmas Auction
We would like to say a huge thank you to the PTA for organising the Christmas Auction - there was a lot of work involved in organising it, and there were some fantastic items to bid on. Thank you, too to everyone who made a bid. The continued financial support of the PTA is vital to support the children at BGPS, and we are very grateful for everything that you do.
Christmas Jumper Day
Thank you for supporting Save the Children with your donations today. It has been a very festive day with the Christmas jumpers and our Christmas lunch. Thank you to Bryan in the kitchen for all his hard work today, and every day!
Start of the day arrangements
Please remember that we operate a 10-minute rolling start between 8:45am - 8:55am. A member of staff opens the door by the circle at 8:45am. Children should arrive during the next 10 minutes, and the door is closed promptly at 8:55am. Anyone arriving after this must go to reception, and sign-in.
I have been concerned to see an increasing number of parents arriving too early. This is leading to safeguarding concerns: cars being parked outside for longer than necessary and causing traffic problems. There is also a safety issue when parents are allowing their children to “play” by running through the flower bed, or jumping on and off the benches (which are designed for sitting on only, and are very slippery when cold or damp). I am also concerned that some parents are leaving children alone, unsupervised, at the front of the school in the morning which is also unsafe.
Please remember that you should not arrive on site until 8:45am, when your child will be able to walk straight into the school building. An adult must remain on-site with every child until they have safely entered the school building.
Bottle Tops
Please could you help us by sending in your clean, washed blue and green plastic milk bottle tops for Teresa Class’s next project? Thank you!
Covid Update
We are very pleased that we have not had any cases of Covid in school this week, however we know that there are still high rates in the community, and the impact of the omicron variant is yet to be seen. Please remember to look out for symptoms, and book a PCR test if your child is feeling unwell. https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
(Please note that whilst the three key symptoms are a continuous cough, raised temperature and change in taste/smell, additional signs in children include upset stomach, headache, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat and unusual fatigue.)

PTA News
PTA Christmas Auction - an enormous thank you to everyone for your incredible generosity with this event. Both donations of fabulous lots and committed bidding meant that the auction raised £1868! This is a brilliant result and allows the PTA to move into the New Year in a strong position to keep supporting the pupils at school.
Thank you all!
Elfridges - this was a truly happy 2 hours last Friday and it was lovely for the PTA to run a 'not for profit' event for a change! The children were wonderful and chose their gifts so carefully! We hope that you all love them.
Amazon Smile - for any last minute Christmas shopping, please remember to use Amazon Smile and nominate 'Burrough Green PTA and Friends' as your chosen charity. For each purchase, the PTA receives a small percentage donation from Amazon at no extra cost to you. It's a really simple way to donate without even realising it!
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy New Year!
