Spelling Bee
Teresa and Obama Classes held their first Spelling Bee of the year on Wednesday. The children worked in their house teams to compete to be the best BG Spellers. There were three rounds: the “Countdown” round - making words from 9 random letters; the Individual Speller round – some very tricky words here; and the anagram team challenge. It was so good to see the children so excited about great spelling, and to see their vocabulary improvements since our last Spelling Bee! We’re looking forward to Einstein and Malala’s Spelling Bee next week. Perhaps you could hold a family spelling competition at home!
South Cambs School Sports Partnership: Year 5/6 Bee Netball
Our Year 5/6 netball teams competed last night in the first round of the 2021/22 Bee Netball tournament. All their training and effort definitely paid off and both teams showed fantastic skills and teamwork. They finished in 2nd and 3rd place after some extremely exciting matches against local schools. Thank you to our parents for providing transportation to and from the event and for being great supporters out of the court. We are so proud of our pupils and we are sure they cannot wait until Round 2 of the competition on 10th March at LVC (4-5:30pm). Keep the date in your diaries!
Reminder: BGPS Autumn Parent Survey – please complete if you haven’t had a chance yet
We are really proud of how resilient your children have been throughout all of the Covid disruption of the past 18 months and how well they have continued on their learning journey towards becoming confident, creative learners. We want to celebrate our successes with everyone in our community this year, so we are very keen to find out more from you to help us work together to discover and learn. Please follow the link below to a short survey. The results of this will be used to help us plan more opportunities to come together as a community throughout the rest of the year. Bounce Forward will be delivering “Raise Resilience”; an online course for parents, starting on the 4th November 2021. Please note that there is a cost of £30 for this course (£5 per session)
“Join us for six 1-hour sessions to build personal resilience, learn how to look after yourself, and explore the link between what we think, how we feel, and how we behave. You will learn skills and strategies to develop a growth mindset, reframe unhelpful choices, and effective communication. This programme is for parents of school-aged children who want to learn about emotional resilience to enable them and their children to be the best version of themselves in the small everyday moments. Alongside the live sessions, we will provide parents with learning materials that can be used at home to help your children develop the mental muscle, gain perspective and thrive.” You can find out more at https://bounceforward.com/raise-resilience/
