Dear Parents and Carers

To see what’s been happening at BGPS, please go to our website and Twitter feed:

Anti-Bullying Week

Our collective worship focus this week has been on Anti-bullying. We have been exploring different forms of bullying and the difference that ‘One Kind Word’ can make. It has been lovely to see had hear all the children showing kindness across the school, demonstrating our ARK value, Kindness.

Children in Need

We have ended the week celebrating the wonderful work of BBC Children in Need. KS2 have been focusing on how we show gratitude for what we have and KS1 have been doing some Pudsey activities to show our support.

Covid Update

Thank you for supporting our efforts to limit the spread of Covid at BGPS this week by taking your children for covid testing.  There have been three new cases confirmed in the upper school since my last letter on Tuesday.

At our meeting with Cambridgeshire Public Health and the Local Authority on Tuesday morning, they were very happy with the additional protective measures that we had re-instated at school this week.  We will be continuing with those measures (e.g. keeping older and younger children separate, sitting in rows, increased cleaning, not swapping staff between upper and lower school) next week.  We will review this again during next week as we carefully monitor the covid rate at school.

Case rates are high in the community, particularly amongst primary-aged children, and it is not possible for us to say with any certainty whether or not your child has been in contact with a positive case of Covid.  Please note that whilst the three key symptoms are a continuous cough, raised temperature and change in taste/smell, additional signs in children include upset stomach, headache, runny nose, sore throat and unusual fatigue.  If your child is unwell, please keep them at home and book a PCR test.

Einstein and Malala Classes’ Nativity Performance

The children in Einstein and Malala Classes are beginning to rehearse their nativity production.  At the moment, we cannot say whether there will be live performances for parents.  This is very much dependent upon the covid case rate at school.  We will let you know as soon as we can.

Reminder:  Instrumental Tuition

Studies have shown that learning a musical instrument is incredibly beneficial to the confidence, emotional growth, mental well-being and behavioural development of children.  We are fortunate to have three peripatetic instrumental teachers who visit school and have spaces to take on new pupils. If you have any questions, please contact us or you can contact them directly for more information:

Recorder, Saxophone, All brass, *Drum kit, Singing - Fallon Howe –
