Outdoor Historical Timeline
Thank you for your contributions of ideas for our new outdoor historical timeline. The school council have looked at all of the ideas, and chosen 10 local events to be added. We are looking forward to being able to install the timeline in the playground when it arrives!
God and the Big Bang
On the afternoon of Tuesday 25th January, “God and the Big Bang”, based at the University of Durham, will be visiting to work with our Y5s and 6s as part of our SMSC (social, moral, spiritual and cultural) enrichment. They aim to provide students with the opportunity to discover, discuss and debate the compatibility of science and faith. The interactive workshops equip young people with the tools they need in order to form their own opinions and engage in rational, exciting, well-reasoned and thought-provoking discussion. If you are the parent of a Y5 or 6 child, and have not yet made a contribution to cover the cost of this, please remember to do so! Without parental contributions, we will not be able to offer enrichment opportunities in school in future, which would be a great shame.
Sea-Life Centre Visit
On Tuesday 1st February, Y4, 5 and 6 (Teresa and Obama Classes) would like to visit the Sea-Life Centre at Hunstanton to support their current learning projects, “Darwin’s Delights” and “Blue Abyss”. Please see the attached letter for more information.
Reminder: Bottle Tops
Thank you for the many bottle tops you have kindly given to school for our mural. Please could you continue to help us by sending in your clean, washed plastic milk bottle tops, squash, juice and toothpaste tops for Teresa Class’s next project? Thank you!
Covid Update
We are very pleased that currently we have no cases of Covid at BGPS. We do know that across Cambridgeshire, cases in schools are higher than they have been at any point in the pandemic so far, so please remain vigilant.
Current guidance is that people who are self-isolating with COVID-19 have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with a lateral flow device (LFD) test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature. For example, if they test negative on the morning of day 5 and the morning of day 6, they can return to their education or childcare setting immediately on day 6. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period, and the second must be taken the following day. All test results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace. If the result of either of their tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest. Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation.
(Please note that positive LFD tests no longer need to be confirmed by PCR tests: you should isolate immediately if your LFD is positive. If you or your child have been in contact with a positive case, you should carry out daily LFD tests for 7 days, even if you have had Covid in the previous 90 days. Please see the full guidance here. LFD tests are now recommended for use with everyone aged 5 and above.)

PTA News
Pre - Valentine Disco
Following on from the success of the Autumn disco, the PTA is planning to hold another on Friday 11th February between 6 - 7pm in the School Hall.
We ask for £2 per child entry fee payable on the door, and the drop off and pick up point will be the courtyard at the front of the school.
The children can purchase drinks and snacks from our tuckshop for 50p per item although water will be freely available for all as well.
We have had a couple of offers of help for this but will need some more volunteers to run this event. If you are willing to help out, please contact Fran on bgptachair@gmail.com
Swimming Pool
There was much discussion on this point at the meeting on Wednesday and the PTA will be forwarding a separate email regarding this soon.
