Dear Parents and Carers
Covid-19 Update – Primary School Staff Testing Programme
You may be aware through the media that the NHS/DfE are starting a COVID testing programme for the Primary and Nursery workforce. This is a voluntary scheme where members of staff can agree to participate in twice-weekly lateral flow rapid testing at home in order to pick up asymptomatic cases and break chains of transmission. BGPS will be offering these home test kits to our staff as soon as they are provided for us by the DfE; hopefully next week.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that if there is a positive case of COVID (adult or child) in school, their bubble will close and all members of the bubble will need to self-isolate at home for 10 days. Learning for all children in that bubble will then be delivered remotely (including that of critical worker and vulnerable children) in line with our Remote Learning Plan. We will inform you by email as soon as we are informed about positive cases. If your child then goes on to develop symptoms, you should follow the guidance: arrange a test for them with all members of your household staying at home.
Please remember that even though it is very unlikely that the children will become seriously ill if they have COVID, the same is not true of the staff – they might recover quickly but they could find themselves with long COVID which could impact on their health for weeks or months to come. It is more important than ever that you do not send your child to school if they are unwell or have any COVID symptoms. You must also keep them at home if any member of your household has any COVID symptoms.
Please make sure that you and all members of your household are following the lockdown guidance. We need to protect our staff who are all in school every day so that we can continue to support your children’s learning throughout this pandemic.
Lockdown guidance can be found here, and is also attached to this email.
Reminder: Free Data SIMs
I still have a small number of free data SIMs that have been donated by Vodafone for families without a home broadband connection to help them to stay connected if they are using mobile data for home learning. They come with 30GB of data free for 90 days. Vodafone’s information leaflet is attached to this newsletter. If you are relying on mobile data and think this would be useful, please get in touch with us.
School Dinner Menu
Thursday 28th January is chicken and sweetcorn pie – Dolce are unable to amend it on the app.
Please check your child’s lunch menu for w/c 1st February, there has been a tweak on the school lunch menu.
