22nd July 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
To see what’s been happening at BGPS, please visit our website and Twitter feed
We have come to the end of another year and today said goodbye to a group of Y6 children who have been the most fantastic role models for the rest of the school. They have aspired to do their best academically and personally, with resilience and kindness throughout. We will miss them hugely and wish them every success as they take the next steps on their journey, wherever it takes them.
With “goodbyes” come “hellos”. Although temporarily saying “goodbye” to Miss Chubb, we are looking forward to welcoming some new members to the BG family in September; new YR children and their families; new teachers – Miss Free and Mrs Moxom; and new TAs – Mrs Harrison, Miss Burton and Mrs Wishart.
I hope you find time to relax and recharge during the next few weeks. Have a good summer, everyone. We look forward to seeing you all again on Friday September 2nd!
Upper School Production of “Olivia!”
Well done Upper School (and Miss Chubb, Ms McDowell, Mrs Pizey and Mrs Brewin). The performances on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings this week were a triumph! We are all so proud of you, and your cockney accents! Some actors of the future, perhaps!
Thank you, Reading Room!
We would like to thank the Reading Room Committee for donating the use of the hall, along with its amazing air conditioning, this week for the upper school play and for lower school to cool off during the heatwave. I’m sure anyone who attended the play would agree that the village is very lucky to have access to such a fabulous amenity. I’m sure we will be using it again in the future. In the meantime, if you need somewhere for a party I can highly recommend hiring the Reading Room! (https://burroughgreenparishcouncil.org.uk/reading-room/)
Reminder: BGPS needs you! (Volunteering at BGPS)
Do you have any time during the school day which you could spend with us to read with children; support small groups with activities; or help with lunchtime or after-school clubs? We are very keen to have parent volunteers in school next year. If you are able to give the children some of your time, please contact Sara Hammond office@burroughreen.cambs.sch.uk with your email address, full name and date of birth so that we can start the DBS checking process. If you have any questions, just ask! (Reminder: We have booked next year’s resus training session for Tuesday 7th March 2pm. Please come! If you are able to, please let the office know.)
