Germs Workshop

Last Friday afternoon, Malala and Einstein Classes enjoyed a visit from the Microbiology Department of Anglia Ruskin University to learn more about germs, how to wash hands properly and why it’s important.  They had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed looking at germs under a microscope, and also under a UV light on their hands!  Thank you so much to the team from ARU!

Spelling Bee

This week it was Y1, 2 and 3’s turn for a Spelling Bee.  Their first round was all about spelling common words.  This was followed by the tricky “Perfect Punctuation” round.  The word groups round was next – noun, verb or adjective – and then the “Spot the Spelling Mistake” round.  They finished with some “Countdown” for fun!  We were so proud of their enthusiasm and determination to spell well.  Well done Y1, 2 and 3!

Open Afternoon

Thank you all for the home learning that you have been doing with your children this half term.  We were disappointed not to be able to have parents (and grandparents) with us on Wednesday, but the children enjoyed sharing their in-school and home learning projects with each other.  We were very impressed by the way that many of the children had clearly planned their home projects over the six weeks, developed their learning and extended their knowledge, and produced some detailed and imaginative work.  We were visited by our LA School Improvement Adviser on Thursday morning, who was so impressed by the work on display in the school and the exciting learning opportunities for the children at BGPS, that she is going to share photographs of their work with other schools!  Well done everyone – we are very proud.  Please head to our website to see some photos: http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk/website/open_afternoon_-_october_2021/579135

Raise Resilience - A six-session online course for parents

Bounce Forward will be delivering “Raise Resilience”; an online course for parents, starting on the 4th November 2021.  Please note that there is a cost of £30 for this course (£5 per session)

“Join us for six 1-hour sessions to build personal resilience, learn how to look after yourself, and explore the link between what we think, how we feel, and how we behave.  You will learn skills and strategies to develop a growth mindset, reframe unhelpful choices, and effective communication.  This programme is for parents of school-aged children who want to learn about emotional resilience to enable them and their children to be the best version of themselves in the small everyday moments.  Alongside the live sessions, we will provide parents with learning materials that can be used at home to help your children develop the mental muscle, gain perspective and thrive.”   You can find out more at https://bounceforward.com/raise-resilience/
