Dear Parents and Carers

Remote Learning Update

I am sure you will have heard the government’s announcement on Wednesday that schools will not be allowed to welcome all children back after the half-term break.  Instead, this has been pushed back by two weeks; children will not be returning before March 8th.  The Prime Minister intends to make his next announcement in the week beginning February 22nd, and we hope that March 8th will still be a possibility at that point.  I know that this will be as disappointing for you as it is for us, but you are doing a fantastic job at home – thank you!

Access to Devices Survey

Thank you to all of you who have shared information with us about your children’s access to devices.  If you haven’t yet completed our device survey, please head to  This is particularly important if your family is finding it difficult to share - perhaps because you have limited devices or lots of people needing them.  Whilst we cannot promise to help, this will help us to identify families who would benefit from support.

Half-term break

BGPS will be closed for the half-term break as planned between Monday 15th and Friday 19th February, and we won’t be setting home learning during this week.  I’m hoping the weather will be kind and we can all spend some time outside and away from screens!

As BGPS is closed to all children during the half-term break, if your children are currently attending school, you will need to make alternative arrangements.  The Local Authority is collecting information about families where both parents are frontline critical workers and are struggling to arrange childcare – they might be able to offer suggestions.  If you feel that you are in this position, you can complete their short survey found here Microsoft Form

Parent consultations

We are planning to go ahead with parent meetings this term, although I am sure the conversations will be a little different to normal consultations!  Some meetings will be in the week commencing 8th February, and some in the week commencing 22nd February.  We will provide you with more details next week, and will be using our usual system of on-line booking.  If you are not sure how to log into the website or app, please contact the office.

Reminder: Free Data SIMs

I still have a small number of free data SIMs that have been donated by Vodafone for families without a home broadband connection to help them to stay connected if they are using mobile data for home learning.  They come with 30GB of data free for 90 days.  Vodafone’s information leaflet is attached to this newsletter.  If you are relying on mobile data and think this would be useful, please get in touch with us.
