Welcome to The Cocoon - where we grow, learn and fly!

The Cocoon is our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 class, where children are encouraged to be curious, independent, and kind. 

Mrs Patterson is the class teacher, and is supported by our wonderful teaching assistants, Mrs Brussell, Mrs Pizey, Mrs Harrison and Mrs Williams. 

The children enjoy COOL Time (Choose Our Own Learning), where our continuous and enhanced provision links to the EYFS Framework and Year 1 and 2 National Curriculum, building on our specific learning focus in class each week. We also do daily Little Wandle Phonics lessons, alongside literacy and maths, as well as a blocked foundation subject each week. 

Please do download and activate Tapestry online. It is a platform where we share the children’s learning on a weekly basis and is great for direct communication if you should have any questions or concerns. 

Cocoon class have two class bears, Meg and Ted, who go home each week with children who have demonstrated our ARK school values – Aspiration, Resilience and Kindness.

Each week, we learn a new British Sign Language (BSL) sign and enjoy a Friday dance! 

PE days: Reception – Monday & Friday,    Year 1 & 2 – Wednesday & Friday.

Please make sure your child comes to school on these days wearing their PE kits. Please do also make sure that all items of clothing including footwear are named to help develop the children’s independence.
