Dear Parents/carers

Key dates

For dates of future events, please regularly check the school calendar on our e-schools app and on our website:  http://www.burroughgreen.cambs.sch.uk

Parking

We are aware that some parents are parking inconsiderately and dangerously outside the school when dropping-off and collecting their children.  This is putting your children at risk of harm.  It is not safe to park on the zig-zags outside of school.  We have been in contact with the police and our local PCSO to pass on details of dangerous parking, and our PCSO will be carrying out random checks to monitor the situation.  Please drive and park safely in the village – the pub car park is available in the mornings and is much safer than the zig-zags or the grass verges.  Thank you.

Annual Small Schools Cross Country Competition

Well done to our cross country runners, who made us incredibly proud with their sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience on Thursday at a very muddy Milton Park.  In a field of 500, they achieved three 3rd places and one 2nd place.  This meant that they won the Y5/6 competition!  Thank you to Vron Lewis, Daniel Aguilar-Agon, Alison Brewin and Fiona McCulloch for spending their Friday lunchtimes training with the runners, and to Frankie Law and Michelle Wishart for helping out with playground duty on Fridays to make running club possible.  The report is now on the website with the team results so please follow the link http://www.scssp.co.uk/mud-and-puddles-galore-at-the-small-schools-cross-country-competition/

Thank you

A huge thank you to Katie Bevan who organised Saturday’s Christmas shopping and pamper evening and to those who came along and support the event. The evening raised a very impressive total of £778 for the school.  We are very grateful.

School Photos

Can you please return your photograph envelopes with payment to the school office by Tuesday 3rd December so they can be delivered back to school for the end of term.

Christmas decorations

Our Christmas tree has arrived, and is ready for decoration.  It is a tradition at Burrough Green that the children make decorations for the tree each year.  If your child would like to make a decoration, it should be about 7cm in height and can be based on any Christmassy idea.  Decorations should be brought into school on Monday; the children will be able to add them to the tree during the day.

Guess the weight of the cake

In the school office, as a fundraiser, we have a very tasty-looking Christmas cake.  If you guess the weight of the cake correctly, you could win it!  Just £3 per guess.

Nativity Tickets

If your child is in YR, 1 or 2, they are busy rehearsing their Nativity play.  If you would like to buy tickets (the ticket price is used to cover the cost of producing the play – performing licences, costumes etc) please complete and return the attached reply slip.

“Elfridges” Christmas Sale – 6th December

The Christmas elves have been very busy preparing for an Elfridges Christmas Present Sale at school on Friday 6th December! This is a chance for children to buy presents for their parents without losing any of the surprise! Children will have a chance to wrap their presents too, if they wish. Each gift will cost £1 with a maximum of two gifts per child. Please send your child into school with money on the day.   (Please note, there will be no celebration assembly on this day, as the elves will be busy setting out their wares!)
